Clip-Lok SimPak recently partnered with a major automotive division to develop a customized, steel reusable packaging solution designed for safe storage and transportation and effective transportation of automotive components.
The automotive client needed a secure, space-efficient packaging system made from durable materials that would ensure components remain stable and protected throughout transport. The main goals were to prevent any movement inside the packaging, optimize storage space, and provide a long-lasting, reusable solution that aligns with sustainable practices.
In order to meet these requirements, Clip-Lok SimPak designed a solution using carbon steel and polyurethane (PU) elements. The packaging producer has chosen this material combination to provide the necessary strength, durability, and flexibility for a secure fit.

Clip-Lok worked closely with the client to develop and test several prototypes, making adjustments based on client feedback to ensure the final design met the specific needs of client’s logistics and supply chain. These sample iterations allowed Clip-Lok to refine each aspect of the packaging system, meantime aligning closely with the client’s expectations and performance standards.
Once the prototype received final approval, Clip-Lok manufactured a complete dunnage system tailored precisely for the client’s components. The result is a robust steel reusable packaging solution that minimises movement, maximises storage efficiency, and can be reused, meanwhile reducing waste and costs.
In addition to designing for durability and reusability, Clip-Lok SimPak utilised its CO2e calculator to assess and optimise the environmental impact of the packaging solution. Therefore, this tool allows Clip-Lok and its clients to track and reduce emissions throughout the product lifecycle, aligning with company’s sustainability approach.
